Research
Adaptive Free-Space Laser Communication and Optical Network
Develop adaptive laser communication systems that are robust, light-weight, secure, and operate at high data rates for advanced communications and information distribution technologies.
Advanced Liquid Crystal Spatial Phase Modulators
Develop advanced high-resolution and fast phase/polarization spatial light modulators for adaptive optics and information processing applications.
Atmospheric Laser Optics Testbed
Imaging Through Turbulent Atmosphere
Develop active/adaptive imaging techniques capable of reducing image degradation caused by environmental effects such as atmospheric turbulence and aerosols.
On-the-Fly Parallel Image Processing
Develop hybrid parallel image processing systems based on optical and analog/digital computation.
Tip/Tilt piezoceramic mirrors
An electro-optical setup was built to characterize and control the piezoceramic mirrors. This setup allowed automated data collection of mirror sensitivity, mirror current consumption as well as the implementation of closed-loop control algorithms under different combinations of sample frequencies and driving voltages.
